Lincolnshire Police say there’s no reason to carry a knife and when you make the choice to take a weapon into a public place, you're putting lives at risk.
They're appealing to anyone who feels they need to to speak to a responsible adult about it or even the police. They are speaking out after two men were convicted of manslaughter after a man was killed in Bourne in June last year. They were sentenced yesterday to a combined total of 19 1/2 years. Reece Bruns of St. Paul’s Gardens in the town used a machete on Kyle Marshall when the pair met in Wellhead Park. The 21 year old previously told Lincoln Crown Court he acted in self defence but jurors believed he'd intended cause Kyle some harm. Bruns had been passed the weapon by Aaron Clark of St Peters Road, who now can be named after turning 18. Bruns was sentenced to 12 years and nine months for manslaughter and a 15 month sentence for possession of a bladed article to run alongside it. Clark received six years and nine months for manslaughter with 10 months for possession of a bladed article who'll serve both in a young offenders institution.
