All of Rutland's place name signs have been taken down after over a third went missing, believed to be stolen, suspected to be taken by trophy hunters, as a result of upcoming local government reorganisation.
Rutland County Council's highways team have removed 17 after a further 10 have been removed without permission. The loss of the signs has been reported to Leicestershire police.
The remaining signs have been placed in secure storage whilst the council works out whether to replace the missing ones and when to put back the remaining ones.
