A local fundraising organisation has cut ties with its parents after nearly 50 years, saying it's business as usual for its activities.
Stamford Kiwanis say they've always aimed to raise £10,000 a year to benefit the local community and the international organisation they've belonged to is increasingly taking their focus away from that. Now known as Stamford Action. The fireworks next month, the Santa sleigh around town in December and the Big Day Out in the summer will continue to operate as before, just with the change of name. Immediate past president of the Kiwanis, Steve Marsh says people in the town will still see the same level of service from their volunteers.
‘People doing the same things. Putting on community events for the community, raising money from the community to give back to groups and organisations in the community. We are the same charity, same charity number. We're doing all the same things, it's just we can't use Kiwanis anymore so we're now known as Stamford Action’.
