The new Barrowden Community Hub is not just a change of name, it's a change of mindset.
When looking to replace their 96 year old Village Hall, the Village Development Group found a need to attract a broader range of activities as part of the new build, which cost £800,000. They held an open day on Saturday, and Chairman Paul Diver told us they inherited a successful village facility.
"The previous one had 300 bookings a year, a range of stuff, but not enough young people activities and not enough health and well-being. And a significant part of what we've achieved here is provided a building that can be used for health and well-being activities and children's parties. And so our next step along the development is to encourage more villagers to come on board as trustees and to open up those extra uses. And we've already had people come in from other villages and admired the facilities and said, Yes, we'll run some events here, which is very nice to hear."
