Football:
Leicester City ended a run of five defeats with a 6-2 victory over QPR in the 3rd Round of the FA cup. A James Justin brace, Buonanotte, Faes, Mavididi and a Vardy penalty with the goals.
Bourne Town are through for the first time in their history to the FA Vase 5th Round after their 4-2 win at Sutton United from the Midlands League Division 1 making it 14 wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Richard Jones gave Bourne the lead, Tom Siddons with a brace and Will Bird sealing the win.
In the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League, Deeping United suffered a fourth defeat in a row 6-2 to Sawtry at home, the same scoreline as their fixture in December.
League leaders Stamford Bels in Division 1 beat Hampton United 4-1 to complete the double and inflict a first home defeat of the season. The Bels scorers, Jordan Neil hat-trick and Louie Roberts.
Just one game survived in Women’s football yesterday because of the weather and that saw Stamford AFC go out of the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Cup after losing 4-1 in the 3rd Round against New Bradwell St Peter. The Stamford goal coming from Laura Dodwell.
Rugby
The Champions Cup saw Leicester Tigers in Pool 1 coming from 10-0 behind at home to beat Ulster 38-10. A hat-trick of tries for Josh Bassett, two for Ollie Hassell-Collins and one for Izaia Perese.
A disappointing night in Paris for Northampton Saints losing by 45 points to 35 to Stade Francais. Saints were 21-0 up in the first 20 minutes thanks to two tries from Henry Pollock and one from Tom Lockett. At the break they led 21-19 with a Henry Walker try extending the lead but then the hosts took control not helped by two yellow cards. Despite the result, the Saints stay top of Pool 3.
