Rutland County Council and community volunteers are joining forces from this week to offer warm spaces to help people who are normally at home.
With the high cost of energy being felt more keenly throughout the winter months, all four of Rutland's libraries in Oakham, Uppingham, Ryhall and Ketton are opening their doors to provide warm spaces to those who need them, along with free Wi Fi. The libraries in Ryhall and Ketton are increasing their hours thanks to the support of volunteers and parish councils. Ketton is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 till 4, and Ryhall begins today with just Wednesdays but will open on Tuesdays and Fridays too through the winter months. Uppingham Methodist Church on Orange Street is also opening as a warm space on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Free drinks are being offered at the village libraries and they're asking for early signs of support so they can predict demand for the winter.
