Volunteer recruitment is underway for the biggest Wildlife Conservation event of its kind
which takes place at Rutland Water in July. The Global Birdfair needs over 100 volunteers to run. Coordinator Jackie Murray says there's lots of different roles.
‘We've got people who will work in the lecture marquees, they'll introduce the wildlife celebrities, or even not celebrities, but people who are speaking to the public and there are several marquees where that happens. They've got to be ushers for those marquees, they've got to be people at the gate letting people in, scanning their tickets. They've gotta be people picking up the rubbish or wiping the tables in the servery areas. So no expertise is needed. There are other people who will help with the children's events and there might be bird box building or bug hunting and things like that and again, people are needed to help and assist with those, although the experts will lead those things. So really there is something for absolutely everybody at the Global Birdfair. You just have to have a willingness to work with people’.
