CrossCountry say train services at Oakham and Stamford will remain hourly
and are unable to even trial a twice hourly service due to a lack of rolling stock and subsidy needed from the Department for Transport or the Greater Lincolnshire Combined Authority. MP Alicia Kearns and Stamford Councillor Kelham Cooke wrote jointly to the firm asking for improvements after residents wondered if it was possible. CrossCountry say they did restore the full hourly service in May following COVID related cuts and are currently refurbishing all of their 29 Turbostar trains that serve the route, which should be complete by the autumn of 2027.
