The concert by local singing group One A' Chord was held on 24 June 2023 in aid of Evergreen Care Trust. £800 was raised on the evening and One A' Chord contributed a further £600. The evening was a great success with the audience singing along to songs and even joining in dancing to Rocking All Over The World to finish. A cheque for £1400 was handed over on Wednesday 19 July 2023 to Caroline Joyce, Care Manager of Evergreen Care Trust, who expressed her thanks to One A' Chord for a wonderful evening and the very generous and much welcome donation.
One A Chord's aim is to meet up on Wednesday evenings, have fun and just enjoy themselves through singing, and to raise money for worthwhile charities by presenting Christmas and Summer concerts. Mike Robinson on Bass Guitar and Mark Craig on Percussion join the group for concert events. They call themselves a ‘singing group’ rather than a choir as many of the songs performed are popular music. Leader and musical director Linda Smith plays the keyboard; she is joined by her husband John who plays electric and acoustic guitar, they have years of experience of playing in musical groups. https://www.facebook.
Evergreen Care Trust is a local independent not for profit organisation, who rely on the generous donations of individuals, groups and local businesses to provide vital funds to enable them to deliver high quality care services to individuals in the local area. They also provide group settings such as Friendship Groups which bring people together in a safe space within the community. Alongside this is the volunteer side which provides free services to the local community such as Befriending, Advocacy and Chaplaincy. https://
