Community fundraising is essential to the survival of hospices, says LOROS, who last week benefited from half of the £2,500 raised by the annual Eyebrook Walk.
This weekend Stapleford Steam is open and has, once again, chosen LOROS as its beneficiary. Adrian Walker from the hospice says it's crucial they get support from the communities of Leicestershire and Rutland.
‘There's been a lot of publicity about hospices having to cut the services and so on all over the country. LOROS is exactly the same as everybody else at the moment. We get about 17% funding through the government, through the NHS and obviously it's decreasing year after year. We know the troubles that the NHS have got so you know it is bound to happen. So must be fundraising events like this, keep our services going and keep the vital services that are needed for the patients you know and the support of the families’.
