Around 550 runners took part in the 32nd Valentine's 30K around Stamford and the villages yesterday.
The event organized by Stamford Striders was held this year in near freezing conditions with surface water across the course, and snow showers on arrival.
It wasn't a day to set a personal best, but Richard Gibbs won in one hour, 46 minutes, 24 seconds. Fastest woman was Claire Frankland as part of West End Runners on one hour 56 and two seconds. Fellow runner Nathan came down with a group from Lincoln and says, it's great pre marathon training.
"It's a good course. It's good fun to be fair. With the hills, yeah. You just take it, don't you? Again, like the weather, just gotta do what you can do with the race. It's just a really cracking time to get around in marathon prep for London at the end of April. This is a fantastic event and it's just no thrills about it is just you get it done and get some goodies at the end"
