New powers to crack down on anti-social behaviour have been approved by South Kesteven District Council. It includes alcohol control orders in towns across the district, to control dogs in public spaces and to prosecute drivers causing a nuisance in car parks at night.
The council's been working with Stamford Police to stop disruption around the Cattle Market and Bath Row car parks and the Meadows, including revving engines, racing, sounding horns and playing loud music. A prosecution's already been brought against someone who strapped a deck chair to the roof of a vehicle for people to ride on. A dog exclusion zone's been extended to include enclosed areas on the Rec, including the skate park, tennis court, and the outdoor gym area. New signs are going up and people are being encouraged to report incidents to the council and the police, with a hundred pound fine being enforced for anyone not complying.
