The site plan is being finalised this week for the 191st Rutland County Show and it's set to be the biggest to be hosted on the current site.
The rugby club pitch is being used as part of an expanded free sports area, as show manager Sophie Howsam explains.
‘So we've expanded the show this year. We've actually run out of space so we're going on to the other side of the building, which is always known to us as the rugby first team pitch, where Rumble Live will be there taking over half of the pitch to do free sessions all day. We've got Fenland Adventure here with their climbing wall free again. We've got the Bikeability lot here with bikes. Then we've got the local rugby, football, netball and cricket clubs and the kickboxing and they'll be doing sport all day with free sessions that kids can join in on and demos of what they do locally in Rutland’.
There will also be a celebration of 300 years of Leicester Longwool cattle honouring the work of Robert Bakewell. The show takes place at the Rutland Showground on Sunday the 1st of June.
