Second phase of road safety upgrade to begin for Rutland

Rutland County Council's beginning the second phase of replacing roadside speed indicators and vehicle activated signs

across the county with new, more modern versions which give them better data to monitor speeding concerns. They also have clearer displays that are more reliable. They are midway through a three-year programme and last year replaced signs at 16 locations with 13 more to come this autumn. The council has 69 devices in Rutland and research shows average speeds are reduced by three to five miles an hour where they're placed.
