No fines and no questions asked for overdue library books and DVDs in Rutland, as Rutland Libraries endeavour to recover their lockdown stock.
More than five thousand books and DVDs borrowed from Rutland Libraries have been out for longer than three months due to lockdown, and the service declared an amnesty on returns when it reopened on Monday, just to get its stock back. Nearly half of the overdue items are from the children’s collection. Rutland Libraries only charge for lost items, never late returns, and it’s hoped this amnesty will give readers a chance to refresh their borrowings without any judgement. The libraries in the county have 60,000 items available in total to borrow.
