Two controversial housing developments in Rutland come before councillors next week
with pressure to meet the shortfall on the Government's increased five year housing supply, one of the main reasons they could both be approved. Outline planning for 140 dwellings for Brooke Road in Oakham by Taylor Wimpey and 41 properties proposed for Manor Green in Ketton by Manor Oak Homes. Both have large community opposition. Ketton Parish Council says they don't need any more development in the village. Residents in Oakham say Brooke Road is already congested and can't take the traffic from any more houses. The site has been turned down four times there over highway safety concerns. Both come before councillors next Tuesday evening and are recommended for approval.
