Cadets are out on the streets of our towns today as the Poppy Appeal gets into full swing.
Volunteers are already staffing supermarket collections and boxes have gone out into villages and other locations in towns. Oakham District coordinator Gwyn Andrews says the cadets are integral to the success of their appeal locally.
‘So we've got the Army cadets this weekend and we've got them again on the 8th and will be in the Market Square then. And we've also got the ATC Air Training Corps and again these cadets, they support us from before I ever came to Oakham. So they've been supporting the Poppy Appeal for many, many years’.
