Could you get some steps in to help mental health and well-being in Stamford?
Miles for MindSpace launches in May and is asking locals to sign up and walk to support the Stamford charity. There's no pressure to reach a target in terms of miles or fundraising. Even the registration fee will help fund their services and keep their hub at Red Lion St open. Louise Goss from MindSpace Stamford says the benefits of getting outdoors and exercising a well proven and this also helps them continue their work.
'Miles for MindSpace really is all about that. It's encouraging you to get out to stay active throughout May, but then hopefully build some habits so that that is ongoing and obviously being outside and going for a walk as a lot of people are telling us. It just makes you feel so much better generally. So we really want to encourage that and promote people doing that for their own well-being and their own fitness. But equally at the same time, this works as a fundraiser for MindSpace. So every time anybody signs up and enters, that entry fee is allowing us to continue work that we're doing supporting other people's mental well-being as well. So we think there's a really nice synergy there with getting outside, getting into nature, discovering our local area, getting out and walking a bit more, just adding up those miles’.
