As Rutland exits Covid restrictions today, Rutland’s Director of Public Health reminds us to remain cautious.
As the country moves to Step 4 of the Covid Roadmap today, some shops in Rutland and Stamford are still asking for masks to be worn; others say it is a personal choice.
Although the legal requirement to wear masks is being dropped from today, government advice is still to wear one in crowded areas. In Rutland there has been a 78% increase in Covid cases in the last seven days – up to 112 positive results across the week. Rutland’s Director of Public Health, Mike Sandys, says that he is putting his trust in the county to reduce the risk of transmission and to keep taking lateral flow tests:
“If people feel that they want to protect themselves and others by carrying on wearing a mask, definitely – I think I will be” Mike told Rutland and Stamford Sound. “Keeping a distance” he adds “is always a good measure too.”
