An Oakham Guide unit could close in the new year if a new leader isn't found.
The current leader is leaving the area and 1st Oakham Guides on Thursday evenings is looking for someone to take it on. The unit is one of two in the town with a group of 10 to 14 year old girls. If you'd like to find out more, contact the Division Commissioner Helen Swift on email rutlandgirlguidingdc@gmail.com. Helen says there's lots of support already in place and it would also work if several people wanted to share different aspects of the role.
‘There is about 15 of them, 10-14 year olds and Girlguiding has a very structured programme now, so all that is in place and is very much ready to go. But also we have two other guide units in the county and very experienced leaders who'd be able to step in and help out and give guidance on that. Yeah. So if two or three people came forward, that would be even better because they could work together as a team. Sometimes people do background admin, they may not actually come into the unit, they may do the financing, the account or sort out programme, or they may sort out trips and things like that’.
