It's thought the eldest of the 3 Manton Bay Osprey chicks has begun his migration.
Although over a week earlier than expected, the first to hatch back in May, a male who's been growing more independent with feeding, was last seen on the nest on Friday 31 July at 9:35 AM. In the run-up, he was undertaking some long surveillance flights, but always returning.
He was predicted to begin migration around now; it's also been revealed this weekend that 24 chicks have been ringed in the Rutland area this season from 12 nests.
