South Kesteven District Council has called fire crews to wheelie bin fires in Bourne and Market Deeping after batteries were wrongly discarded in them.
Anywhere that sells batteries, such as supermarkets, must provide a recycling point. The council also says they can be taken to recycling centres, and SKDC also operates a recycling scheme curbside, where they must be tied in a separate bag to your bin on collection day.
