The College has been closed to Years 8, 9 and 10 today (Wednesday) as COVID led to a number of teaching staff being off ill, and being quite poorly for a number of days.
Principal Ben Solly said he reluctantly took the decision to partially close Uppingham Community College after COVID seemed to suddenly sweep through the school in a couple of days and take several teaching staff away from their duties, meaning there weren't enough in to run it safely for all students. He said he's monitoring the situation daily. On Wednesday 27th September, only Years 7 and 11 are in school, with Years 8, 9 and 10 back to online learning, after 17 teaching staff reported a positive test of the virus.
Mr Solly told Rob Persani it's disappointing to be back in this situation.
