The clock on the tower of the Holy Cross Church in Burley, near Oakham, will receive a new fibreglass face to replace the 1976 installed version.
Rutland County Council had to grant permission to the church’s conservation trust as the building is Grade II* listed.
The restoration will follow the original specification from 1894 which was made of copper.
Listed buildings are included on the National Heritage List for England with a three tier grading system. Grade 1 is for national importance, Grade 2 for special interest and Grade 2* for exceptional buildings, with around 72 of this tier around Rutland.
