Rutland is to get nearly £50,000 to invest in local transport connections following the scrapping of HS2.
The region is expected to receive a billion pounds as a whole and it's being targeted at communities outside cities. It can be spent on anything from bus stations to new electric vehicle charging points and even to improve roads by filling in potholes. This is in addition to levelling up money, part of which included a bid to improve public transport connections between Oakham and Melton.
Lincolnshire has been awarded just over £260,000 and North Northamptonshire nearly £150,000 from this new local transport fund. The new allocations though won't be available till April next year. The government says it's to give local authorities time to develop their plans.
